On Sunday, Mariela wore a traditional dress from San Luis Potosi.
"I like the outfits and the music," Mariela said as she stood patiently by her grandmother, Mary Garcia, who added a hair piece on her before her performance.

Dancers lined up backstage in their finest costumes as they prepared to walk on the dance floor in front of a crowded auditorium.
Many wore colorful Jalisco dresses layered with exquisite ribbons while the men wore their classic charro ensembles topped with decorative sombreros. These dancers changed quickly from outfit to outfit several times throughout the evening so they could show off and perform the sets they practiced all year.

Nearly 600 dancers, wearing their brightest cultural outfits, gathered at Del Mar College’s Richardson Performance Hall on April 10-11 for the annual La Competencia Folklorico De Tejas competition.
Now in its third year, the event started on April 10 with competitions for large and small groups, ensembles and duets, and included workshops for the dancers.
Festival celebrates Hispanic heritage

Music, dancing and tradition were in ample supply Sunday as hundreds celebrated at the Hispanic Heritage Festival.
The festival provided a family friendly atmosphere at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds in Robstown that included live music throughout the day.
Los Palominos, Jimmy Gonzalez y Mazz, Beto Ramon y Luna Llena performed, among others.
While some attendees sipped on drinks through straws in pineapples, others were able to watch the NFL games on televisions in the viewing area.
Dancers with Alcorta Compania de Danza Folklorico performed traditional Mexican steps during the festival, while Los Mariachi's de Corpus Christi performed music.
